‘Wild Spirit’ adventure of the heart and the Alberta outdoors is for men only
by Neil Bousquet APR
Jason S. Bradley is the manager of Red Deer River Ranches, a guest ranch just west of Sundre, Alberta that is part of the Alberta Country Vacations Association.
In addition to offering a full plate of guest ranch activities - everything from bringing your own horse to track wild Alberta horses to white water rafting or to enjoy some of their Bar 75 Natural Highland beef, Red Deer River Ranches also offers a three-day “Wild Spirit” weekend for men only.
“It’s really designed for men to spend some purposeful time, in the company of other men, to get to know God better and what He says about being a godly, masculine man in today’s world,” says Bradley.
The work is done in a small group setting, including horseback riding, target and skeet shooting, archery golf, fire starting, knife throwing, and cooking together. Throughout the weekend, the group will work through scripture using John Eldredge's book 'Wild at Heart' as well as the 'Wild at Heart Field Manual'."
"In Wild At Heart, Eldredge invites men to discover their masculine heart, and to return to the dreams they once had as a boy: dreams of being the hero, of beating the bad guys, living a life of adventure and of rescuing the damsel in distress.”
“The purpose of our ‘Wild Spirit’ weekend is to facilitate time for men to seek God out, to read in His word, and for each man to discern in his own spirit the type of Godly man that He wants you to be.”
Bradley explained that during the three-day weekend, time is spent reading from the Bible, discussing pointed questions together, praying with and for each other, having a ton of fun doing “guy stuff” and coming up with a game plan to follow when each participant goes back to his daily life.
“The ‘Wild Spirit’ adventure is for any man that wants to find more about being a son, a husband, a father, and a friend as a follower of Jesus Christ.”
