Calgary, AB and Penticton, BC – “The Okanagan is one of the world’s top wine regions and the Naramata Bench has some of the finest wineries in the area,” explains Roger Jewett, CEO of Jump On Flyaways. “However, it’s a time consuming flight or drive to get to Penticton from Calgary. Our direct flight, hotel package and behind the scenes TDM Reserva wine tour allows Calgary wine lovers to experience a convenient weekend getaway at a great price for the first time.”
A Canadian-owned air service, Jump On contracts idle aircraft from charter airlines at discounted rates, schedules convenient weekend getaways and uses social media to create awareness of its flights.
“Our package includes a direct return flight from Calgary to Penticton, two night’s (double occupancy) accommodation at the Penticton Lakeside Resort plus the TDM Reserva one-of-a-kind winery tour. The TDM Reserva tour is designed and hosted by Terry David Mulligan (TDM) a well-known Canadian radio and TV broadcaster and host of the very popular Tasting Room Radio show (www.tastingroomradio.com) about food, wine and travel,” adds Jewett.
“Our TDM Reserva - Beyond the Tasting Room tour is not like any wine tour Calgarians have experienced before,” explains Terry David Mulligan. “As a wine consultant for Jump On, I’ve created a one-of-a-kind wine tour that includes some very special experiences that will remain with participants long after the tour is over. These may include one-on-one time with winemakers, barrel tastings, wine pours not found in any tasting room, punching down a tank, cropping vines and a behind-the-scenes look at how wineries operate.I’ll also be introducing our Reserva friends to some of the best small culinary spots in the area as we relax and enjoy the spectacular Naramata vistas.”
As the Host/Producer of the weekly radio show www.tastingroomradio.com and Co-Host of Hollywood and VinesTV with Jason Priestley, Terry David Mulligan spent the past 10 years travelling the World of Wine. For five years, he lived on the Naramata Bench in BC’s Okanagan Valley just so he could teach himself about winemaking from the terroir up. TDM was welcomed into wine cellars all over the Okanagan and BC and when he realized there was not one weekly radio show committed to telling the stories of BC wines, he created Tasting Room Radio.
Adds Jewett, “We only have room for 76 passengers and when we reach 60 confirmed passengers, the direct Calgary-Penticton return flight weekend that includes two might’s accommodation at the Penticton Lakeside Resort and tours of Poplar Grove, La Frenz and Kettle Valley wineries with host and wine authority Terry David Mulligan, the flight is a GO!”

About Poplar Grove Winery
Founded in 1993, Poplar Grove was one of the original five wineries on the Naramata Bench. Ian Sutherland built his reputation starting with just two and a half acres, and his 1995 Cabernet Franc quickly established Poplar Grove on the world scene. Now including more than 110 acres of prime property, the focus has expanded to include Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Merlot and a signature blend called The Legacy. Savour the wines, enjoy food from the excellent kitchen and revel in some unforgettable winemaking stories. Read more.
AboutLa Frenz Winery
Since transplanting themselves from the Australian wine industry, Jeff and Niva Martin have put their small “cult” winery on the world map by winning major awards. In 2011, La Frenz won the most gold medals of any winery at the All Canadian Wine Championships and the Northwest Wine Summit. Jeff looks after the vineyards, Niva runs the tasting room – and they promise a tasting to remember that includes sampling your way through much of their portfolio. Read more.
About Kettle Valley Winery
What started out as a hobby for friends Bob Ferguson and Tim Watts became an obsession when they were granted the third winery licence on the Naramata Bench. Their first blocks of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay set the tone for the Kettle Valley style of intense full bodied reds and whites, and they constantly challenge the assumptions about what cannot thrive on the versatile Naramata terroir. Think of this stop on the TDM Reserva tour as tasting, touring and talking. Read more.
