Millrise Place employees celebrate winning their 3rd Team Spirit Award from Heart & Stroke of Alberta, NWT & Nunavut
“One never goes into a fundraising effort to win a prize – it’s always about raising money for a cause that you believe in and are passionate about,” says Colleen Baxter, Marketing Manager for Millrise Place.
“However, we have to admit that it is very gratifying to be recognized as a winner of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT & Nunavut’s Spirit Award for the third time. When we made the announcement to our staff, there were a lot of very happy faces. It’s really a tribute to them for taking time to raise money and awareness for Heart & Stroke.”
Millrise staff competed against approximately 112 other Calgary area teams to win the Spirit Award which is based on a spirit points ranking system covering 14 different criteria that include enthusiasm, team spirit, team cheer, music, themed t-shirts, organization and generally, making a lot of noise.
Baxter added that the 30 enthusiastic employees who participated in the Big Bike Challenge at Fish Creek Park as part of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta’s Spirit Award process, are passionate healthcare workers that also like to have fun. “We have our own team cheer and warm-up exercise routines and we use a lot of noisemakers.”
“The Millrise Place staff take pride in their jobs and like giving back to the seniors’ community where they work. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta is an ideal recipient of our fundraising efforts. It ties in beautifully with our employees’ daily practice of making a difference in the lives of Alberta seniors.”
